Chewy Brownies from Scratch
Ingredients
- 1½ cups (180 g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (88.5 g) good quality dark chocolate cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon (6 g) salt
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (180 g) bittersweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups (440 g) light brown sugar, packed
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons (8.4 g) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (180 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9” x 13” baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and bittersweet chocolate chips over medium heat until smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Add the brown sugar to the butter mixture and stir until smooth.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, stirring well between each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour mixture and stir until no streaks of flour remain.
- Fold in ¾ cup of the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the remaining semi-sweet chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool for about 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
