Pennsylvania Dutch Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • meat broth (we like chicken best)

Instructions

  1. Add milk to flour slowly, stirring constantly to keep smooth.
  2. Add one egg at a time beating well after each addition.
  3. Add salt and mix well.
  4. Get meat broth (we like chicken best) to a boil.
  5. Pour the batter from a shallow bow! tilting bowl over boiling kettle;
  6. with a sharp knife slice off pieces of the batter into the boiling broth.
  7. Dip knife in the broth before each cut to prevent sticking.
  8. If using commercially canned broth season with chicken or beef bouillon and bits of oleo to taste before adding dumplings.

Old fashioned, very tasty, quick to make and inexpensive.
