Stained Glass Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 1/2 Cups flour
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 3/4 C butter
• 1 1/2 C Sugar
• 1 Egg
• 2 tsp Vanilla
• 1 lb assorted candies (Life savers or Jolly ranchers)

Instructions

1. Sift flour and salt onto wax paper.
2. Beat butter, sugar and eggs in large bowl until fluffy.
3. Blend in Vanilla.
4. Stir in flour mixture to make a stiff dough.
5. Wrap in wax paper.
6. Chill for 3 hours
7. Roll out dough one quarter at a time to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured pastry board.
8. Cut dough into star shapes with a floured 3 1/2 inch cutter.
9. Cut out center with a 1 3/4 inch cutter.
10. Brush cookie sheets with oil.
11. Place cookies not more than 6 at a time on to cookie sheet. Place candy in center of each
12. Bake in 350 oven for 8 mins or until candy melts and cookies are lightly brown.
13. Cool cookies on cookie sheet until candy centers are firm enough to handle. (about 2 mins)
14. Transfer to wire racks cool completely.
