Thick Soft Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 5 1/2 cups flour
Buttercream Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4-1/3 cup milk
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixer, cream butter and sugar together.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Mix in sour cream.
- Combine salt, baking soda, and flour, then add to mixture.
- Roll dough on floured surface to approximately 1/4 to 1/3 inch thickness.
- Use spatula to transfer cookies to greased parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 375°F for 7-8 minutes. Cookies will appear underdone.
- Wait 5 minutes, then transfer to cooling rack.
- Once cooled, frost with buttercream.
- For frosting: cream butter, beat in sugar and vanilla until crumbly, gradually add milk to desired consistency, add food coloring as desired.
